On 27May 2019 EU Anti-corruption Initiative initiated an orientation session for earlier elected advisors to the city mayors on transparency, accountability and prevention of corruption who will work within the “Integrity Cities”.
Advisors to city mayors have enhanced their knowledge and understanding of anti-corruption toolbox, which now is being developed and implemented by the EUACI. Attendees of the orientation session also received comprehensive insight into main directions of EUACI’s work with Integrity Cities, civil society, and investigative journalists.
Over the next nine to twelve months, the EUACI, advisors to city mayors together with the mayors of “Integrity Cities” are going to work on the following anti-corruption tools for transparency, accountability and prevention of corruption: implementation of open budget systems, development of the e-reception concept, development and implementation of corruption risk assessment system as well as city integrity plan, which will identify the main ways to eliminate major corruption risks.
Earlier this year, EUACI have selected the best candidates for the positions of anti-corruption advisors to the city mayors of five “Integrity Cities”. Each candidate was interviewed first by a selection panel made up of EUACI and its Steering Committee representatives, and then by the mayors themselves. Later on, all the appointments were made accordingly.
The EU Anti-Corruption Initiative is supporting Ukraine since 2017 and is aiming to help Ukraine counteract corruption, thereby contributing to systemic and quality changes within the country.
