Terms of Reference for 

Three paid internships 

at the EU Anti-Corruption Initiative (EUACI), Ukraine

The EUACI is looking for three interns to join the team in three areas, namely:

  1. Area 1. Supporting state institutions fighting and preventing corruption such as the National Agency for Corruption Prevention (NACP), the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU), the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecution Office (SAPO), and the High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) (legal, project management, administrative skills);

  2. Area 2. Enhancing transparency and accountability of the reconstruction process in Ukraine at the level of the government and selected cities in war-affected areas (project management and administrative skills);

  3. Area 3. Development partnerships and providing grants to civil society and media in the field of preventing and fighting corruption.

The EUACI

The EUACI is a joint EU and Government of Denmark-financed programme aimed at supporting Ukraine in its efforts to reduce corruption at the national and local levels through the empowerment of citizens, civil society and state institutions. 

At the EUACI, we are making a difference in preventing and fighting corruption in Ukraine. We are working with the main anti-corruption stakeholders, namely the government and the parliament, the anti-corruption institutions, the Ministry and Agency of Restoration, and civil society and media. We provide strategic capacity building, institutional and legislative support. We are bringing the best international anti-corruption expertise to Ukraine.

In 2024, a new phase of the EUACI is launched. The EUACI strategic objectives are that: corruption in Ukraine is reduced; Ukraine advances with anti-corruption reform; and reconstruction in war-affected areas of Ukraine is implemented within a framework that incorporates transparency, accountability and integrity.

In its work, the EUACI strives to ensure equal opportunities for men and women and the development of youth. To follow this goal, the EUACI is offering internships to motivated candidates.

Description of positions 

Title: Intern at the EUACI (paid), 3 positions.

Place of service: the EUACI office in Kyiv. 

Duration: 6 months; start date as per agreement. 

Conditions: It is a part-time position for 20 hours per week, with the conclusion of a contract for the provision of services (external consultant). The indicative monthly gross remuneration is 600 EUR. Form: a contract with a private entrepreneur.

After completing their internships, interns will be provided with certificates. Academic / job recommendations may be provided upon intern’s request. 

Area of responsibility/tasks:

The responsibilities and tasks will differ depending on the selected internship area. 

Responsibilities and tasks common to all interns:

  • combination of assistant work and activities through which the intern will improve his or her professional skills and receive practical work experience;

  • conduct background research on any topic related to the area of work; 

  • assist with developing presentations and searching for information;

  • assist in the organisation of meetings and events such as conferences, study tours, training for EUACI beneficiaries etc.;

  • assist allocated EUACI staff in the implementation of their activities;

  • provide administrative support to Programme staff where needed (drafting procurement evaluation reports, payment requests, spreading information about procurement opportunities among potential bidders, etc.);

  • taking minutes of internal and external meetings;

  • perform any other similar duties as requested.

Profile/Qualifications

  • Currently in the final year of a Bachelor's degree or at a Master's degree programme in law, public administration, economics, social sciences, or a related field depending on an internship track OR has obtained a Master’s degree recently (no longer than 1 year ago);

  • Demonstrated an interest in an area of selected internship track either through studies, civil society engagement or previous work for a public institution;

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;

  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint;

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work constructively;

  • Fluency in Ukrainian and excellent English language skills are required;

  • Keen sense of ethics, integrity and credibility.
