Junior Communication Specialist for the EU Anti-Corruption Initiative

1. The Program

The European Union Anti-Corruption Initiative in Ukraine (EUACI) is the European Union (EU) program in the area of anti-corruption in Ukraine, co-funded and implemented by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark on behalf of the EU. Based on the significant results of the EUACI Phase II in 2020-2024, Denmark and the EU decided to continue a third phase of the program aimed at supporting Ukraine in its efforts to reduce corruption at the national and local level through the empowerment of citizens, civil society and state institutions.

The EUACI Phase III strategic objectives are that corruption in Ukraine is reduced; Ukraine advances with anti-corruption reform; and reconstruction in war-affected areas of Ukraine is implemented within a framework that incorporates transparency, accountability and integrity.

The EUACI has four intervention areas, namely:

-      Support to independent state institutions fighting and preventing corruption;

-      Transparency and accountability of the reconstruction process;

-      Support cities in war-affected areas in enhancing integrity in the reconstruction process;

-      Civil society and media in preventing and fighting corruption.

2. The Position

Title: Junior Communication Specialist at the EU Anti-Corruption Initiative (paid).

Place of service: Remotely and at the EUACI office, Kyiv, as per agreement with the EUACI.

The placement is up to 18 months with a general duration of 360 working days. The start date is May 2024. It is a full-time position. The maximum budget for this activity is EUR 27000 equal to EUR 1500 monthly.

The junior communication specialist will be contracted as a private entrepreneur and will be responsible for paying his/her own taxes.

3. Scope of work

  • Developing, writing, and editing materials for EUACI’s communication platforms and media;
  • Support in multimedia content development and infographics;
  • Support and development of EUACI communication channels (social media, website, newsletters, etc.);
  • Assist in organizing of events;
  • Translate materials when necessary;
  • Assist in developing regular media monitoring reports;
  • Update databases;
  • Any other related tasks to support the Communication Expert and the EUACI management in communication.

4. Demand Profile/Qualifications

Key qualifications:

  • Masters or Bachelors degree in mass communication or journalism or another relevant subject at the university level;
  • At least two years of professional experience in conducting communication services similar to those mentioned in the ToR;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Good knowledge of and experience working with content and design for social media platforms and design tools (including Adobe illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, etc);
  • Insight into Ukraine’s media landscape and relevant media connections;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work constructively;
  • Proven ability to see through tasks, set and deliver results;
  • The ability to work with tight deadlines, flexibility, and an entrepreneurial spirit;
  • Fluency in Ukrainian and English is required;
  • Keen sense of ethics, integrity, and credibility.

Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated commitment to anti-corruption efforts and relevant experience in communication roles within this context.
